UN adopts pact to regulate multibillion-dollar global arms trade
The U.N. General Assembly has overwhelmingly approved the first U.N. treaty  regulating the multibillion-dollar international arms trade.

The resolution adopting the landmark treaty was approved by a vote of 154 to  3 with 23 abstentions.

The 193-member world body voted after Iran, North Korea and Syria blocked its  adoption by consensus at a negotiating conference last Thursday. The three  countries voted “no” on the resolution.

The National Rifle Association has portrayed the draft treaty as a threat to  gun ownership rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and has lobbied to  defeat the proposal at the U.N. The NRA last week praised the Senate’s passage  of an amendment to the Democratic budget proposal that would prevent the U.S.  from entering into the treaty.

Barack Hussein Obama’s Obsession with Providing Enemy Combatants with Constitutional Rights is Irrational

Enemy CombatantsAs a former practicing Constitutional Lawyer and Professor, Barrack Hussein Obama is not only demonstrating irrational behavior, but also unconstitutional behavior that is setting a dangerous precedent. Forget that his decision will prevent us from obtaining important or crucial intelligence about our enemies.  His behavior is Irrational in that it took a filibuster by  Senator Rand Paul to get him to state that American Citizens on American soil, not posing an immediate threat  are to be afforded their Constitutional rights and are not  to be treated as enemy combatants. Irrational because  he is providing enemy combatants  with Constitutional Rights reserved for American Citizens. The following Supreme Court Case is the precedent for the treatment for enemy combatants. Other cases reinforce this decision.

“Supreme court decision, “Ex parte Quirin, 317 U.S.1 (1942), is a Supreme Court of the United States case that upheld the jurisdiction of a United States military tribunal over the trial of several Operation Pastorius German saboteurs in the United States. Quirin has been cited as a precedent for the trial by military commission of any unlawful combatant against the United States.

It was argued July 29 and July 30, 1942 and decided July 31, 1942 with an extended opinion filed October 29, 1942.

 …the law of war draws a distinction between the armed forces and the peaceful populations of belligerent nations and also between those who are lawful and unlawful combatants. Lawful combatants are subject to capture and detention as prisoners of war by opposing military forces. Unlawful combatants are likewise subject to capture and detention, but in addition they are subject to trial and punishment by military tribunals for acts which render their belligerency unlawful. The spy who secretly and without uniform passes the military lines of a belligerent in time of war, seeking to gather military information and communicate it to the enemy, or an enemy combatant who without uniform comes secretly through the lines for the purpose of waging war by destruction of life or property, are familiar examples of belligerents who are generally deemed not to be entitled to the status of prisoners of war, but to be offenders against the law of war subject to trial and punishment by military tribunals.”

What in the world could Barack Hussein Obama’s rationale be, for on the one hand attempting to deny Constitutional Rights to American Citizens, while on the other providing them to enemy combatants?

Senator Rand Paul has good reason to be concerned about Barack Hussein Obama and his CIA Nominee John Brennan’s potential use of drones to kill American Citizens on American Soil.

Since John Brennan  would not unequivocally state, during his Senate nomination hearings,  that killing American citizens on Americans soil who are not imminent threats, with drones is unconstitutional. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has customized its Predator drones, originally built for overseas military operations, to carry out at-home surveillance tasks that have civil libertarians worried: identifying civilians carrying guns and tracking their cell phones, government documents show.

The documents provide more details about the surveillance capabilities of the department’s unmanned Predator B drones, which are primarily used to patrol the United States’ northern and southern borders but have been pressed into service on behalf of a growing number of law enforcement agencies including the FBI, the Secret Service, the Texas Rangers, and local police.

Homeland Security’s specifications for its drones, built by San Diego-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, say they “shall be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not,” meaning carrying a shotgun or rifle. They also specify “signals interception” technology that can capture communications in the frequency ranges used by mobile phones, and “direction finding” technology that can identify the locations of mobile devices or two-way radios.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center obtained a partially redacted copy of Homeland Security’s requirements for its drone fleet through the Freedom of Information Act and published it this week. CNET unearthed an unredacted copy of the requirements that provides additional information about the aircraft’s surveillance capabilities.

Concern about domestic use of drones is growing, with federal legislation introduced last month that would establish legal safeguards, in addition to parallel efforts underway from state and local lawmakers. The Federal Aviation Administration recently said that it will “address privacy-related data collection” by drones.

The prospect of identifying armed Americans concerns Second Amendment advocates, who say that technology billed as securing the United States’ land and maritime borders should not be used domestically. Michael Kostelnik, the Homeland Security official who created the program, told Congress that the drone fleet would be available to “respond to emergency missions across the country,” and a Predator drone was dispatched to the tiny

town of Lakota, N.D., to aid local police in a dispute that began with reimbursement for feeding six cows. The defendant, arrested with the help of Predator surveillance, lost a preliminary bid to dismiss the charges.

“I am very concerned that this technology will be used against law-abiding American firearms owners,” says Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation. “This could violate Fourth Amendment rights as well as Second Amendment rights.”

Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection agency declined to answer questions about whether direction-finding technology is currently in use on its drone fleet. A representative provided CNET with a statement about the agency’s unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) that said signals interception capability is not currently used:

 

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is not deploying signals interception capabilities on its UAS fleet. Any potential deployment of such technology in the future would be implemented in full consideration of civil rights, civil liberties, and privacy interests and in a manner consistent with the law and long-standing law enforcement practices.

 

CBP’s UAS program is a vital border security asset. Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and day-and-night cameras, the UAS provides real-time images to frontline agents to more effectively and efficiently secure the nation’s borders. As a force multiplier, the UAS operates for extended periods of time and allows CBP to safely conduct missions over tough-to-reach terrain. The UAS also provides agents on the ground with added situational awareness to more safely resolve dangerous situations.

 

During his appearance before the House Homeland Security committee, Kostelnik, a retired Air Force major general who recently left the agency, testified that the drones’ direction-finding ability is part of a set of “DOD capabilities that are being tested or adopted by CBP to enhance UAS performance for homeland security.” CBP currently has 10 Predator drones and is considering buying up to 14 more.

If the Predator drones were used only to identify smugglers or illegal immigrants crossing the Mexican and Canadian borders, or for disaster relief, they might not be especially controversial. But their use domestically by other government agencies has become routine enough — and expensive enough — that Homeland Security’s inspector general said (PDF) last year that CBP needs to sign agreements “for reimbursement of expenses incurred fulfilling mission requests.”

“The documents clearly evidence that the Department of Homeland Security is developing drones with signals interception technology and the capability to identify people on the ground,” says Ginger McCall, director of the Open Government Project at the Electronic Privacy Information Center. “This allows for invasive surveillance, including potential communications surveillance, that could run afoul of federal privacy laws.”

A Homeland Security official, who did not want to be identified by name, said the drones are able to identify whether movement on the ground comes from a human or an animal, but that they do not perform facial recognition. The official also said that because the unarmed drones have a long anticipated life span, the department tries to plan ahead for future uses to support its border security mission, and that aerial surveillance would comply with the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and other applicable federal laws.

The documents show that CBP specified that the “tracking accuracy should be sufficient to allow target designation,” and the agency notes on its Web site that its Predator B series is capable of “targeting and weapons delivery” (the military version carries multiple 100-pound Hellfire missiles). CBP says, however, that its Predator aircraft are unarmed.

Gene Hoffman, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who’s the chairman of the Calguns Foundation, said CBP “needs to be very careful with attempts to identify armed individuals in the border area” when aerial surveillance touches on a constitutional right.

“In the border area of California and Arizona, it may be actively dangerous for the law-abiding to not carry firearms precisely due to the illegal flow of drugs and immigrants across the border in those areas,” Hoffman says.

CBP’s specifications say that signals interception and direction-finding technology must work from 30MHz to 3GHz in the radio spectrum. That sweeps in the GSM and CDMA frequencies used by mobile phones, which are in the 300MHz to 2.7GHz range, as well as many two-way radios.

The specifications say: “The system shall provide automatic and manual DF of multiple signals simultaneously. Automatic DF should be able to separate out individual communication links.” Automated direction-finding for cell phones has become an off-the-shelf technology: one company sells a unit that its literature says is “capable of taking the bearing of every mobile phone active in a channel.”

Although CBP’s unmanned Predator aircraft are commonly called drones, they’re remotely piloted by FAA-licensed operators on the ground. They can fly for up to 20 hours and carry a payload of about 500 lbs.

Don’t Allow Colorado’s Blatantly Unconstitutional Gun Laws to Become a Harbinger for MA

Consequently, one  can not surrender, sell or transfer unalienable rights. They are a gift from the creator to the individual and can not under any circumstances be surrendered or taken.  All individual’s have unalienable rights.

Our Second Amendment states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

There are today, people in our country,  who are attempting to infringe upon our “right“ to keep and bear arms and would thereby place our personal safety, our family’s safety  and our country’s safety in jeopardy of being overrun by criminality and anarchists.  However, our forefathers understood that our right to bear arms is  so basic and intrinsic a right that not even Government can not eradicate it.  Consequently, we have  an obligation to future generations to guard this right jealously from Federal encroachment by Barack Hussein Obama and State encroachment by Deval Patrick and his minions in our Legislature.

The following are but a few of the multitude of writings by our forefathers regarding this subject:

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. …Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.–Thomas Jefferson, quoting with approval a noted criminologist of his day.

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” (James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)

“…to disarm the people – that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 380) 

Today Megan Kelly talked to Judge Andrew Napolitano about Colorado’s blatantly unconstitutional gun law proposals:

Megan Kelly:  Colorado is becoming a hot spot in the fight over second Amendment Rights today after a legislative committee approves a controversial bill that would make weapons manufacturers and sellers liable for crimes committed with their guns.

This legislation would become one of the most dramatic gun laws in the country and is polarizing the state. The lawmakers in Colorado believe that they have the votes. And what they are trying to do is impose criminal liability or civil liability?

Judge Andrew Napolitano:  Civil liability for the manufacturer or the re-seller if the gun is used to commit a crime .

Megan Kelly:  So  if I have I’m in a gun shop business  and  I got a gun shop and I sell someone a gun and they use it and kill somebody, I could  potentially get sued as the gun shop owner?

Judge Andrew Napolitano:  Yes, as is could the manufacturer from whom you bought the gun.  And if the person to whom you sold it sells it to another person, then the person to whom you sold it could be liable for the criminal behavior of the ultimate user. That’s why you heard in one of the clips you just ran, police saying, police testifying at this hearing; this is un- enforceable. You can’t possibly impose a burden on on-d the third person down the line.

Megan Kelly:  How far down the line can you go?

Judge Andrew Napolitano:  Think about it. Can we , we hold General Motors liable because an automobile kills someone even if its used recklessly, even if it’s used criminally? Of course not! We just don’t do that in America. This transference of liability is basically wrong and unfair.

Is the U.S. government getting ready for a war we don’t know about?


And, if that’s why Washington is stockpiling massive amounts of ammunition (hollow points, by the way), why is Homeland Security doing the buying instead of the Defense Department?


I have some theories.


Many of you will remember a story I broke a long time ago – about presidential candidate Barack Obama’s little-noticed announcement that, if elected in 2008, he wanted to create a “civilian national security force” as big, as strong and as well-funded as the Defense Department.


Here’s what he actually said at a campaign stop in Colorado July 2, 2008: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Could what we see happening now in the Department of Homeland Security be the beginning of Obama’s dream and our constitutional nightmare?


We’ve learned more about Obama’s vision since then. Maybe it’s time for a review:


    

  • He made the campaign promise to build this $439 billion domestic army, but all references to the initiative were inexplicably deleted from the copy of his speech posted on his website while others mysteriously disappeared from transcripts of the speech distributed by the campaign. That was strange – and ominous.

  • At the time, I had never heard anyone use the phrase “civilian national security force” before. But I did a little homework and found out where it originated. It was first proposed by then Bush administration Defense Secretary Robert Gates. On that basis alone, I accurately predicted that, if elected, Obama would name Gates as his own defense secretary. Needless to say, when that appointment came to pass, no media outlet bothered to interview me about my foresight.

  • Still during the campaign of 2008, I suggested that what Obama had in mind might be something very sinister indeed – perhaps “some kind of domestic Big Brother program.”
    • 



We never heard another mention of Obama’s “civilian national security force” again. Not in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012.


But that brings us up to 2013 and the highly unusual stockpiling of firearms and ammo by Homeland Security – firearms and ammo that Obama would like to deny to ordinary citizens who are not members of his domestic army.


Well, I hate to say it, but I may have predicted this, too.


In a Halloween column last fall, I stated that, if re-elected, Obama would “declare a full-scale war on his domestic opposition.”


I wasn’t joking. I was deadly serious – so serious, in fact, that I did something I pledged I would never do: Vote for Mitt Romney. It was a matter of self-defense and self-preservation. I said then that a second term of Obama might mean we would never see another free and fair election in America. (I’m not even sure we saw one in 2012.) I suggested due process would go the way of the horse and buggy. I said I expected Obama would move to shut down or destroy all independent media. I even speculated that his biggest critics would eventually be rounded up in the name of national security.


Think about it.


Why does the civilian Department of Homeland Security need billions of rounds of ammunition?


This is the agency that is responsible for policing the border. But it doesn’t.


This is the agency that is responsible for catching terrorists. But it doesn’t.


So why does Homeland Security need so many weapons and enough hollow-point rounds to plug every American six times?


Maybe this is the “civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the Defense Department.


These words – “civilian national security force” – have haunted me ever since I first read them.


Obama has never explained what he meant.


He’s never been called to account for that remark.


Doesn’t this sound like police-state talk to you?


The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn’t count reserves or National Guard. In 2007, the U.S. defense budget was $439 billion. No one knows what the budget is today because Congress stopped passing budgets when Obama took office.


Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force bigger and more expensive than that? Is this part of his second-term agenda?


He has also set up, as I have reported, a new homeland security bureaucracy to operate under his own direction.


I think it’s worth recalling here that just over a year ago both houses of Congress unwisely passed the defense reauthorization bill that killed the concept of habeas corpus – legislation that authorized the president to use the U.S. military to arrest and indefinitely detain American citizens without charge or trial.


That legislation would empower a lame-duck Obama to use all of the power of the federal government – constitutional and unconstitutional – to target his political enemies.


If any Republican, conservative, independent journalist, pro-life activist, returning veteran, gun-rights activist, constitutionalist, Bible believer or critic of Obama thinks they will be safe in a second term under this would-be despot, they had better think again – real fast.


The “civilian national security force” is not here to protect any of them. It’s here to destroy the opposition. It’s here to destroy liberty. It’s here to destroy the Constitution.

Our country has now evolved such that there are one set of rules for our new elite “Ruling Political Class” and another for us, the  new common “Serfs Class”.


Our Political Class has become a do as I say not as I do elite.  Rabid anti-gun Anti-2nd Amendment Mayor Michael Bloomberg surrounded by 5 hefty security guards , leaving a conference, is asked a gun control question by a reporter,  Jason Matter, who was also an attendee. Jason is immediately accosted by Bloomberg’s  guards  and then the guards  continue to harass and intimidate him even after he walks away down the street.

My old friend Jason Mattera, now with the Andrea Tantaros show, participated in a stress test of New York mayor Michael Bloomberg’s journalist repellent systems, and I’m pleased to report that the system is functioning beautifully.  The Mayor is protected from a number of things he would prefer his citizens remain vulnerable to, including impertinent questions.  He doesn’t seem any more eager to declare his own personal “gun-free zone” than most other gun control zealots, but he’s strongly in favor of journalism-free zones:




You can tell Jason is mellowing out, because in his wild youth he would have done the interview with a Big Gulp in his hand.  If he gets a chance to conduct a follow-up interview, I’m hoping he’ll ask if Bloomberg has ever participated in Barack Obama’s “frequent skeet shoots,” which I believe look something like this:




It’s remarkable how reliably the “why won’t you disarm your bodyguards?” question discombobulates the anti-Second Amendment crowd.  They really don’t have a comfortable focus-group-friendly answer to it.  The coldly logical responses – “because I’m more important than you, so I need protection” – simply do not sit well with the public.  That includes people who might otherwise be content to ride in the gun-control bandwagon, until they hit this particular intellectual speed bump.


The question is not, “Why should you have a professional security detail while I must defend myself?”  If that were the issue at hand, it wouldn’t be tough to answer the question.  Instead, the ruling class finds it difficult to explain why they should enjoy armed protection while the rest of us are forbidden to defend ourselves at all, or must do so within an environment of complex restrictions that put us at a pronounced disadvantage against attackers.  This position might be easier to defend if the Little People faced no significant risk of criminal attack, but that’s obviously not the case.  It’s especially obvious if you know more about the recent history of law-abiding citizens defending themselves with firearms than the national media wants you to know.


Serious students of American liberty read the Second Amendment and see the right of individual citizens to defend themselves, and their families, against tyranny and barbarism.  It is increasingly offensive to hear people with armed security details lecture us on how it’s really more like a provisional license to shoot ducks and clay pigeons.


Update: You’ll have to make do with the artistic representation of Obama’s frequent skeet shooting sessions provided by Messrs. Brooks and Korman, because the White House refuses to provide photos of our gun-slinging President filling the sky with hot lead.

Our “Bill of Rights” which constitute the first 10 Amendments to our Constitution was developed in response to an overriding fear by our “Founding Fathers” that there existed a clear and present danger that the proposed centralized Federal Government could negate the proposition that “all power is vested in, and consequently derived from, the people …”




Our Constitutional Lawyer and President, Barack Hussein Obama’s threatened unconstitutional attempt to create an Executive Order that affects our 2nd Amendment would have been seen by James Madison’s as precisely why the “Bill of Rights” were required. As a matter of fact Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts was one of the delegates that walked out of the Philadelphia Convention without signing the final Constitutional draft because  he “demanded a Bill of Rights if he was to support the Constitution”.


It should be clear to all Americans by now that Barack Hussein Obama’s usurping of Congressional and judicial power is not enough to satisfy his appetite for power so as to denigrate and demean America and the American Dream. Obama has already bypassed Congress by usurping the powers in Article I. thru VII.  Of our Constitution and he is now attempting to usurp the powers contained in our “Bill of Rights”.


“When Madame Roland, the moderate French Republican, was a prisoner in the hands of the radicals, she wrote; “Oh my friends. Heaven grant that you may reach the United States– that last refuge of liberty– in safety!” Two-hundred years later, her “last refuge of liberty” is under siege by the same power hungry fanatics who turned the French Revolution into a reign of terror. “


It’s up to YOU to protect our “Bill of Rights” lest Obama thrust us into “…the hands of radicals” and places us “…under siege by the same power hungry fanatics who turned the French Revolution into a reign of terror.”


Understand, Newtown is not the reason, it is the tool  courtesy of Rahm Emanuel  who quipped “…never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”  


“During his time teaching at the University of Chicago, Obama told then-colleague John Lott directly: “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.”



“As a candidate for the Illinois State Senate in 1996, Obama promised to support a ban on “the manufacture, sale & possession of handguns.”



While running for the U.S. Senate in 2004, Obama spoke in favor of federal legislation to block citizens nationwide from receiving concealed-carry permits. “National legislation will prevent other states’ flawed concealed-weapons laws from threatening the safety of Illinois residents,” he said.



Senator Obama supported Washington, DC’s comprehensive gun ban, which prevented district residents from possessing handguns even in their own homes; required that long guns be kept locked and disassembled; and lacked a provision allowing the guns to be reassembled in the event of an emergency.”

It goes without saying that all Americans were appalled and grief stricken by the slaughter of 20 first-graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newtown CT.


“Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture. While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns.”




Last July, long before Newtown, Barack Hussein Obama strategically allowed his UN Gun Control talks to flounder because he was in the mist of his re-election bid. However shortly after his re-elected on November 7th,  he immediately backed a U.N. committee’s call to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate arms.


The UN treaty would have  still faced an uphill battle in the Democrat controlled Senate.  As tragic as Newtown is, Barack immediately recalled Rahm Emanuels dictum,  “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”


And now Biden and Obama are threatening to control our 2nd Amendment by an illegal Executive order:




The following exchange took place yesterday between Bill O’Reilly and Charles Krauthammer:


BILL O’REILLY: Why does the president want to downsize the Pentagon, the defense department? Why does he want to do that?


CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Because Obama has this ideological vision of America as a super power too big for its britches. And it’s a power that is thrown itself around the world. He talked about it in his initial tour of the world. And that it does not sort of have the moral standing to be the great power it was, intervening as it was, choosing where and when. And he wants to cut it down to size.


We are not dealing with an American Patriot but rather an ideologue  who has been indoctrinated and influenced by  such people as communist card carrying Frank Marshall Davis (membership card number 47544),   Edward “Buzz” and Alice Palmer,  longtime agents for the Soviet Union, Reverend Wright along with a host of other anti-American people, institutions and organizations.


Terresa Monroe-Hamilton writes in Home of the Enslaved  on Trevor Loudon’s New Zeal Blog’s Noisy Room that, “According to  Fox News and Mark Levin, the way both sides dealt with the fiscal cliff is a big step towards conflict and they are right as well. Just what does everyone think will happen when food stamps, social security, disability, pensions etc. stop, because there is no more money or money is worthless due to hyperinflation from printing? What do they think will happen when the government moves to confiscate our guns? (You think this is about protecting “the children?” Dream on.) It won’t be pretty in either scenario. Taxes, brought on the Declaration of Independence. The seizure of arms, sparked the American Revolution.


So there you have it. Obama is setting up America for a massive economic crash the likes of which will make the Great depression of 1929 seem like a cakewalk.  He has nominated Chuck Hagel to preside over the collapse of our military that will  complete the job that Leon Panetta began.  John Kerry has been nominated to pursue our further alligence and domination bythe  United Nations  and to complete our dimlomatic demise as a world leader.


Our enormous debt collapse will indeed result in our children and grandchildren becoming indentured serfs.  But we will not escape either.  When the economic collapse occurs within the next 5 years ,  there will be insurrection in our streets and we will be in the mist of it.

WILL BANNING GUNS STOP HOMICIDES? STATS FROM ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA SHOW…






The debate on gun control is only gaining momentum. On Thursday, Senator Diane Feinstein outlined her plans to introduce sweeping legislation that includes fingerprinting and registration of all those who currently own so-called semi-automatic “assault” weapons.


Those in favor of a total ban on firearms often point to countries like England and Australia where firearms are banned or virtually impossible to possess. A look into the statistics might offer some clarity, though, about how safe such a move actually makes a country.


Let’s start at home. From 2009 to 2011, homicides overall declined slightly according to a 2011 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) report, with a corresponding drop in homicides by firearms.


In fact, the report says homicide is not among the top 15 leading causes of death in America. (As recently as 2009, the CDC reported that homicide was in the top 15 at #15.) Instead:


    

  • Accidents (unintentional deaths) were #5 and Suicide (intentional harm) has held solid as the 10th leading cause of death for several years.
    • 

  • The stats from 2009 show that homicides totaled 16,799, with 11,493 of those attributed to guns.
    • 

  • During that same year, motor vehicle deaths were nearly triple that of gun-related deaths — 34,485 vs. 11,493.
    • 

  • Death from accidental falls totaled 24,792, almost double the firearms homicide total.
    • 



The stats for gun deaths have actually shown some significant declines in the past two decades.

Looking at the above graph, it is worth noting that deaths caused by “other guns” has been relatively flat since 1985. The assault weapons ban was in place from 1994-2004.


And what about the argument most often made by the Left quoting the success of oppressive gun laws in countries like Australia and England? A recent opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal by Joyce Lee Malcolm shows that argument to be hollow: “After a school massacre, the U.K. banned handguns in 1998. A decade later, handgun crime has doubled.”


Malcom’s article details what happened after Australia banned many guns following a 1996 mass murder of 35 people by a madman with assault rifles. The country tightened registration laws, banned assault rifles, pump-action shotguns, and also forced a buy back of more than 600,000 guns. What effect did this have on crime?


“A 2003 study published by the Brookings Institution, found homicides “continued a modest decline” since 1997. They concluded that the impact of the National Firearms Agreement was “relatively small,” with the daily rate of firearms homicides declining 3.2%.”


During the same period in America, deaths attributed to firearms dropped by nearly ten times the decline seen in Australia. Restricting or confiscating handguns seems to have had almost no effect on homicides in Australia and the stats also show that the law had no real effect on suicides.


“Suicides with firearms went down but suicides by other means went up,” Malcom notes.


And what about the oft-cited British gun laws? Have they done the job?


Restrictive gun laws have been around for almost 100 years in England, and Malcolm reports that getting a permit requires proving to police that you have a “good reason” for needing a gun. Self defense is not considered to be a good reason in England. Following a 1987 shooting in the British town of Hungerford, the Brits enacted stricter controls. And in 1998, a near-total ban on gun ownership followed another mass shooting. Were these moves a success?


Within a decade of the handgun ban and the confiscation of handguns from registered owners, crime with handguns had doubled according to British government crime reports. Gun crime, not a serious problem in the past, now is. Armed street gangs have some British police carrying guns for the first time.


There is little doubt that the Senate will soon put forth new legislation regarding gun ownership, especially as it relates to so-called assault weapons. However, those making the argument that banning guns has worked in places like Australia and England might be advised to check the statistics or risk looking foolish if they encounter someone armed with the facts.

“No set of laws can eliminate evil from the world, or prevent every senseless act of violence in our society.”


So said President Obama in words of comfort in Newtown. The president was right to speak of evil, but mistaken when he called the massacre “senseless.”


For this was a premeditated and purposeful act of mass murder, and the devil that did it knew exactly what he was doing and why.


When he put four bullets into his mother’s head while she lay in bed, Adam Lanza wanted her life ended along with his. When he headed for Sandy Hook Elementary, with the Glocks and Bushmaster rifle, he knew he would encounter no armed resistance.


Before he went into that school to shoot 20, 30 or 40 children, barely more than babies, he knew his slaughter would be so stomach-turning and heart-wrenching that the TV crews would come running.


And by day’s end, the world would know who Adam Lanza was.


Lanza kept firing at the children until he heard the sirens. Then he pulled out one of the Glocks, put it to his head and ended it, knowing he was on his way to becoming world famous.


Just as Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold of Columbine are famous. Just as James Holmes, the “Joker” of the Aurora “Dark Knight Rising” massacre, is famous. Just as Jared Lee Loughner, the Tucson mass murderer who shot Gabby Giffords, is famous.


A desire to be famous coupled with a dead conscience is the common thread running through these recurring atrocities. These loners and losers want us to know who they are. And, to succeed now, each almost has to outdo in horror those who went before.


Since the news first came in Friday from Newtown, we have argued about guns in America and mental illness, but heard little about the moral sickness of our society.


Americans have always owned guns. But in Prohibition, when gangsters like John Dillinger, “Machine Gun” Kelly and “Baby Face” Nelson were notorious, the most remembered atrocity was the “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.” Al Capone’s gang executed seven of Bugs Moran’s gang in a Chicago garage.


Yet, just two years ago, when one Washington, D.C., drive-by shooting ended with four dead on a sidewalk and five wounded, it was just local news.


Why are these atrocities growing more frequent and deadly?


We are told that it is because the guns used – especially assault rifles like Russian-made AK-47s and civilian copies of the M-16 used in Vietnam, like the Bushmaster – are all too available.


But the guns used in the Sandy Hook massacre were legally purchased by Lanza’s mother, and she and Adam lived in a state with some of the strictest gun laws in the country.


And the Bushmaster is not a machine gun but a semi-automatic, as are the 100-year-old Colt .45 and M-1 rifle used by GIs in World War II. Fully automatic weapons like the Thompson submachine gun cannot be purchased without a federal license. No fully automatic weapon has been used in any of these massacres.


Will ending all sales and transfers of assault rifles and limiting the rounds in clips and magazines reduce these massacres in malls, movie theaters and schools? Did it succeed when the assault weapons ban was in force in the Clinton years?


If assault rifles are evil things that ought not be in the hands of decent Americans, why do “shoot-to-kill” video games feature these weapons?


Why does Hollywood glamorize assault rifles in action-packed films of slaughter starring Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and Jason Statham?


Few of America’s young have seen an assault weapon fired outside the military. Scores of millions have seen them fired on TV. Many of our movies are advertisements for the efficiency of assault weapons in the hands of good guys doing heroic deeds.


Are the folks who think America would be a better place with a more restrictive Second Amendment willing to restrict the First Amendment to stop all distribution of movies and cable shows that depict famous actors blasting enemies with assault weapons?


Not long ago, there existed in our hearts “a fear of God.”


How, we would ask ourselves, if we commit an evil act like murder, will we answer at God’s judgment seat? For He will decide if we enter what the president called in Newtown, God’s “eternal house in heaven.”


But if God is dead, not to worry. Just put the gun to your head and pull the trigger, and it’s over. No trial. No disgrace. No prison. Nothing to worry about anymore.


No voice of conscience told Adam: Do not do this evil thing! Now he is no longer a nobody, a nerd, a recluse. He is famous. Everybody is talking about him, and ruminating on what might have motivated him.


Adam wanted to be somebody. And now he is.


And out there others like him are thinking: That could be me.

Never let a crisis go to waste – especially when it is an opportunity to abridge our Constitutional rights. This week, a sociopath went on a killing spree in Newtown, Connecticut. A 20-something-year-old whackadoo slaughtered 20 Kindergarteners and 6 adults, before blowing his own brains out. The loss of those little angels and the heroes who died protecting them is unimaginable. But the spilled blood had not even dried when the Left started screaming for gun control. Bloomberg and others instantly screamed for massive gun control. Clamors to change the Second Amendment, to invoke an Executive Order and even to kill the leaders of the NRA abound. No one ever points out that the vast majority of these deviants are on meds and under a psychiatrist’s care.


I am appalled. Yes, I am appalled that a monster killed children and teachers, but I am more appalled that the first response from the professional control freaks — the political animals across the nation — is to initiate the long-planned campaign to stampede Americans into surrendering their rights, to disarm all the people who didn’t murder anyone, and — most importantly — to eliminate the ability of the citizens to defend themselves from a whole spectrum of evils ranging from common bad guys to government tyranny.


Senator Feinstein has pledged to submit new “assault weapon” legislation, even more draconian than the last completely useless ban, the one that had no effect on crime other than to create new classes of victims. Senator Feinstein, evidently in an effort to avoid accusations that this new bill is a knee jerk response to the shootings, assures us that she has been working on this bill for a year.




Contemplate that for a moment. This “new” bill has been poised to launch for months, waiting only for the (hopefully) inevitable next horrific incident, an appropriate tragedy, to whip this “solution” out while stampeding a frightened, sad and disoriented populace into accepting yet another “DO SOMETHING!” law that constrains honest people while addressing the actual problem not at all. The senseless slaughter of 20 little ones is the perfect political platform for shoving fascist policies down our throats. The media will trot out every profile of every child and teacher who died, to engender guilt, horror and remorse and bully Americans into letting go of their guns. Newsflash, asshats… we aren’t that gullible and stupid. We certainly aren’t that weak.


Over the next several days and weeks we will see lawmaker vultures who have been perched, waiting only for enough carnage that they can stand in the blood of those children, calling for universal disarmament. These politicians don’t care about dead children except as they provide a stage to consolidate their power and control. Dead children are the “broken eggs” necessary for the making of their political omelet. Hey, too bad about those kids, but we’ve got an agenda to fuel, it runs on emotion, and we’ve got to harvest that emotion while it’s fresh.


They will carefully avoid any mention of the broad new classes of victims created by revoking people’s right of self defense and the inevitable murders that will follow. They will scoff at the thought that a disarmed populace is easier to subdue under a tyranny. And you should just accept as totally normal that a legislator will craft a law to disarm the nation a year in advance just to hold in reserve hopefully anticipating some new horror to provide the emotional flame to burn away those pesky Constitutional protections.


In reality, evil individuals will always find a way to kill. If not guns, then bombs, poison or some other concocted deadly weapon. When you outlaw guns, you strip the populace of defense. The bad guys don’t suffer at all, because they don’t follow the law. Despots dance with glee as their absolute control of their subjects is cemented in bloody stone.

The solution to all this evil is more guns, not fewer. More freedom, not less. Less government, not more. Do not create gun-free, kill zones. Allow open and concealed carry everywhere and you will see far fewer of these atrocities. This latest killing spree is just ammo for Progressives to try and do away with the Second Amendment. Every horrific event causes their fascist blood to rise even more. They see no down side to banning any or all firearms. This has all been done before and failed every time. Every time the Left passes a little bit more, they edge closer and closer to doing away with our rights which were given to us by Nature and Nature’s G-d, not government.


As my friend Bookworm Room astutely points out, this is more about culture than guns. Our society is devolving into darkness. When you take G-d out of the equation, as well as ethics and morality, you breed monsters. Globalist Marxists have all but destroyed our churches, schools and families. We have let evil into our lives willingly, because we won’t face the purveyors of this in our culture — media, politicians and Progressive Marxists.


Obama and his minions are going to use these dead children as innocent pawns in a barbaric attempt to push their political agenda. You see it in Obama’s crocodile tears and his feigned sadness. Mark my words, he doesn’t give a crap about anything except himself and his political power. Bloomberg and the Mayor of Boston exploded over media calling for the immediate banning of guns. They were followed by a whole cadre of Progressive hacks pushing this meme. Americans dare not compromise on this. Do not allow the Left to use a crises to force further surrendering of our rights. They feel emboldened because of the elections to institute their Communist ideals and to redo the Constitution in their image, which is corrupt.


The stampeding of gun control through crisis will become a tsunami from the Left. First, they will want to ban semi-automatic rifles, then semi-automatic handguns, then all handguns, then all guns. They’ll try and do it through an Executive Order if they can get away with it. They’ll come for the ammo and tax everything to do with the Second Amendment as high as they can. They are going to have one hell of a fight on their hands. American’s won’t willingly roll over and give up their Constitutional rights, no matter what the crisis. Doing so would only enable and strengthen evil doers and Progressives.


But, in the interest of sanity, let me say that it doesn’t have to be that way. You don’t deal with evil by rolling up in a ball and sucking your thumb and wetting yourself. You don’t banish murder by swaddling the culture in bubble wrap. Making society an even softer target is not the answer. The bad guys and the crazies already demonstrate their preference for soft targets: malls, theaters, schools and so forth. Instead, let us make ourselves, our schools, our malls and other public places into hard targets. Let the citizens and public servants alike see to their own defense. How does a school shooting play out when the would-be murderer is met with ballistic countermeasures?


Until we find a way to improve our culture so that it doesn’t manufacture monsters, we must all be able to meet evil head on when it shows up. I don’t want another teacher to die trying to shield her students; I want the murderer neutralized on the spot and that requires the tools of self defense.


Remember, the Clackamus Mall shooter killed himself when confronted by a CCW holder. Shall we allow ourselves to stampede into the legislative box canyon of victim disarmament? Or shall we instead square our shoulders, accept that evil must be fought and gird ourselves to that end?

Citizens in over 30 states have so far started petitions at the White House “We the People” website seeking permission to secede from the Union. The number is more than double what we reported Monday morning. Two competing petitions seeking deportation and exile of everyone who signed the petitions have also appeared.




The states now include California, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Alaska, Ohio and Delaware. Defense contractors back off layoff notice threats ahead of sequestration












Several defense contractors on Monday backed off threats to issue layoff notices to employees in coming weeks, a move they had said might be required given the threat of mandatory federal budget cuts in January.


Bethesda-based contracting giant Lockheed Martin and the U.S. arm of Britain’s BAE Systems, which is based in Arlington County, said they would not issue the notices this year. Under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or Warn Act, states require advance notice of mass layoffs or facility closures.










The White House issued a memo late last week that directs contractors to follow the guidance of the Labor Department. In a July letter, the department said the Warn Act does not require contractors facing sequestration to send notices to their workers that they could be let go.


In its new guidance, the White House said that if sequestration occurs and an agency terminates or changes a contract that results in a plant closing or mass layoff, the contractors’ liability and litigation costs under the Warn Act would be “allowable costs” covered by the contracting agency.


“The additional guidance offered important new information about the potential timing of DOD actions under sequestration, indicating that DOD anticipates no contract actions on or about 2 January, 2013, and that any action to adjust funding levels on contracts as a result of sequestration would likely not occur for several months after 2 Jan,” Lockheed said in a statement.


Brian Roehrkasse, a spokesman for BAE Systems’ U.S. business, said BAE also will not issue Warn notifications to its employees.


“However, if specific information becomes available that certain company facilities may suffer mass layoffs due to sequestration, we will issue Warn notices at that time as required by law,” he said in an e-mail. “Unless sequestration is avoided, we eventually may have no choice but to issue Warn notices to potentially impacted employees.”

In 2011, our Government has provided  ” free“ give-away phones to welfare clients that has cost you and I $1.6B and is climbing. This Administration is buying votes and allegiances with our tax dollars in accordance with Obama’s  October 19, 1998 Loyola College forum on community organizing and policy making  speech. In that speech Obama  stated that he favored a government redistribution of wealth and more importantly, he viewed welfare recipients and “the working poor” as “a majority coalition” that could be mobilized to help advance progressive policies and elect their champions.








The Barack Hussein Obama Administration is purchasing votes with programs like the “Obama Phones” even though we do not have the tax revenues to pay for these  outrages. Consequently,  Ben  Bernake and his Fed minions have been purchasing  as much as 80% of our $16T National Debt associated with these “Welfare Frauds” with increasingly worthless US paper dollars.  This monumental US debt accumulation, using  Quantitative Easing (Another name for selling/buying US Bonds) will result at some point in the near future in an Inflationary Spiral that will make Germany’s Weimar debacle seem like a cake walk!

Where do “Obama phones” come from?

The video of an Obama supporter bragging about having an “Obama phone” has gone viral on the web, but where do these “free cell phones” come from?




The program is called Lifeline, established in 1984, originally created to subsidize landline phone service for low income Americans, funded by government-collected telecommunication fees, paid by consumers.


In 2008, the program was expanded to support cell phones which quickly escalated the cost of the program. In 2008 the program cost $772 million, but by 2011 it cost $1.6 billion.


A 2011 audit found that 269,000 wireless Lifeline subscribers were receiving free phones and monthly service from two or more carriers. Several websites have been created to promote “free” government cell phones, including the”The Obama Cell Phone” website at Obamaphone.net.


Rep. Tim Griffin R-Ark. has proposed a bill to eliminate federal subsidies for free cell phones and has produced a great YouTube videohighlighting the runaway cost of the program. The program has also been highlighted for reform by Senator Claire McCaskill D-Mo.


Pressure to reform the program led the FCC to announce an effort in February to “reduce the potential for fraud while cutting red tape for consumers and providers” by the end of 2013.

Internal Department of Justice emails obtained by The Daily Caller show Attorney General Eric Holder’s communications staff has collaborated with the left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America in an attempt to quell news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and America’s top law enforcement agency.

Dozens of pages of emails between DOJ Office of Public Affairs Director Tracy Schmaler and Media Matters staffers show Schmaler, Holder’s top press defender, working with Media Matters to attack reporters covering DOJ scandals. Emails sent in September and November 2010 show Schmaler working with Media Matters staffer Jeremy Holden on attacking news coverage of the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation scandal.

Holden attacked former DOJ Civil Rights Division attorneys J. Christian Adams and Hans von Spakovsky on Sept. 20, 2010 for what he called an attempt “to reignite the phony New Black Panther Party scandal.”

Before Holden posted his article at 7:52 p.m., Schmaler sent him several emails with information helping him attack both former DOJ oficials.

�

“Here’s one Wolf letter,” read the subject of one email Schmaler sent Holden that contained no text. The email was likely a reference to Virginia Republican Rep. Frank Wolf, a member of Congress who led the Republican charge on the New Black Panther Party scandal involving alleged voter intimidation at a November 2008 polling place in Philadelphia.
